How effective are push ups for strength training

Push ups are an excellent ecxercise to work the chest muscles and being a compound movement it works on many muscles simultaneously.

But if an individual starts doing more than 25–30 push ups in a row than it becomes more of an endurance event and does not help much beyond a certain point.

Adding some form of weight or resistance really works well for me as it helps in making this exercise progressively harder. A simple way to add resistance is by using a resistance band somewhat like this.

For people who workout at home like me and don't have access to a bench should perform this as their go to exercise for chest.

How much wider your chest eventually gets is mostly governed by genetics but yes including this in your chest routine will definitely give you good results.
