Top 3 Supplements for Vegan athletes

I will talk about the 3 supplements that vegan athletes must consider if they are into strength training or weightlifting or any other sporting activity. If you are a vegan and you want your body to be performing optimally than you must try these 3 Supplements.

Increasing number of people these days are embracing the vegan lifestyle mainly due to health related, environmental concerns and many people don't want to be part of cruelty done to animals, these are some of the biggest motivations people seek when turning vegan.

Studies have proved that Vegan people are at a less risk of obesity, type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, lipid disorders, cardio vascular diseases and certain cancers.

Despite all these benefits many people have a misconception that a vegan diet is not optimal for athletes, part of the reason for this thinking is not knowing what the body needs to perform optimally.

So here I list some of the must have supplements that every vegan athlete must try.

1. Multivitamin - While all the health benefits that I mentioned above are true, it also true that vegans are at a high risk of developing nutritional deficiencies due to a restrictive diet and if you are a fitness person or love sports in general this is something you want to highly avoid as the demands for vitamins and minerals is even higher for athletic people. Supplementing with a quality multivitamin fills in most of the nutritional deficiencies that may occur due to a restrictive diet. As a vegan you should go for a multivitamin that offers at least 50-70 percent of recommended dietary allowences vitamins and minerals like of Vitamins d3, zinc, iron and calcium, iodine in the daily RDA values. The RDA value in most multivitamin for b12 is 100 and You should check the % of RDA which is mentioned on every multivitamin and make sure you are getting the right amounts.

2. Vegan protein powder - For any vegan who has muscle building goals and does strength training and uses his body physically more than an average person must give vegan protein powders a try. This is absolutely not necessary for people who don't workout they can get their daily protein requirements from foods like tofu, almonds, walnuts, peanut butter etc. But as I already told above that an athletes body has different requirements, when compared to a normal person than in this case supplementing with a vegan protein can be really beneficial. Most vegan proteins will provide a good amount of Branch chained amino acids which are required for muscle protein synthesis. Many of the vegan proteins come with added vitamins so mure sure to read the label to avoid taking making more than recommended when combined with a multivitamin.

3. Vegan creatine - The most science backed sport supplement that truly increases strength and muscle mass and on top of it, it is real budget friendly. There are many forms of Creatine available in the market but most research has been done on the monohydrate form, so spending more money on a form of creatine which is less studied is not advisable. Most vegans will respond to creatine,as Creatine is only found in animal tissues and most vegans don't have optimal muscle creatine levels, supplementing with creatine can take the performance to the next level.
